Welcome...

The fog comes on little cat feet. It sits looking over the harbor and city on silent haunches and then moves on.

Now it's really been too long!

Saturday.

Wow, it's been over a year since my last post.  I had fully intended to begin again, but then I shut off the Internet service I was using and haven't looked back.  Actually, I'm glad I did.  Since having disconnected myself, for the most part, (I still have full Internet on my phone) I have found myself more involved with my life...who knew?!  So, onward and upward!

Working out:

Well, since the last time I posted, I have accomplished so much.  My biggest accomplishment is having trained for and completed my very first half marathon.  That's right, 13.1mi, ran it at 3.13.03 at a 13min/mi pace.  I was 55 when I did that; I'm so proud of myself.  Now I'm training for my next half marathon, this one in Newport, OR on 5.30.2015.  I've set my sights on a full marathon too-->26.2...this one will be in Reykjavik, Iceland in 2020.  I'm just a little obsessed with Iceland right now.  I'm just following where spirit is leading me.

Paying it Forward.

I'm keep up with my blood donations-->every 8 wks.  I've also joined a program called Who I Run 4.  I run for a family who has children who have severe physical issues.  Specifically my little run buddy, SassyPants Bryn has mitochondrial disease.  The family has already lost one child to this horrific disease only to be told they could lose another.  Little miss SassyPants is a fighter for sure.  She is 3yrs old and such a cutie.  She also has an older sister, Mermaid Princess Lauren, and I run for both of them as well as the Angel Super Breylon.  I've been running for them for almost a year now and so proud to do so!

Gardening.

Sooo, well my gardening hasn't really gone anywhere until just recently, when I finally got myself together and made some decisions.  I have allowed too many things to just get in the way of what I love, so now I'm starting over...again.  I have a Pothos plant that is over 90yrs old and it has really started to take off.  Among other plants, I have a Spider that has produced a baby offshoot and that is now in a glass of water working on rooting.  My Coleus has me worried.  I checked online to see what can I do to help it grow better and came to the conclusion that I needed to trim it up and try propagating a bit.  I seriously dislike cutting on the plants, but in this case I guess it was necessary.  I now have it in the kitchen window and the trimmings in a jar in the south facing window; keeping fingers crossed.  My avocado plant appears to be thriving as is my clover...yay!  Outside, the succulents continue to grow despite my neglect over the fall and winter and even the Heather, Columbine, and Hosta plants have reawakened...I'm so thankful.  Logan, from Perk, gave me some Sweet Pea seeds which I coaxed into sprouting and are now planted in little dixie cups and are about 4" tall; I can't wait to smell those flowers!

In the kitchen.

I've gone completely vegan.  Away with all dairy and boy am I feeling better already.  I also happened upon The Happy Herbivore on FF and have checked out her cookbooks...I LOVE THEM!  Not only am I eating much more healthy meals, but the food budget is cut drastically.  I can purchase exactly what I need for about $60 and it will last me the entire month...WOW!  I highly recommend.

On the needles.

Hmmm, since I last posted I finally finished my CPH...finally hahaha and still plugging along on both Gnarled Oak sweaters.  I've also made a couple of Reverse Psychology scarves--with beads--and there's probably a couple pairs of socks and hats in there somewhere too.  I'm still continuing to knit hats for the homeless--seriously, that's something I will never stop doing.

Okay, enough for now.

I'll leave you with this:

A Haiku I wrote for my little run buddies:

Breezy afternoon
Pink on the  gentle petals
Ladybug crossing
